(VNIRO)

Laboratory of New Informatic Technologies.

The Laboratory performs research and development to provide regional centers of satellite monitoring with scientifically approved methods and technologies. The main goal of this research is to create new technologies of collection, processing and usage of heterogenous data covering the desired acquatory, obtained by the end-user from Earth satellites, airplane laboratories and sea vessels.

At present, these tasks can be successfully fulfilled using GIS technologies. Within this approach, all the remoted-sensed physico-chemical parameters of marine media are being verified through real oceanographic experiments using direct and indirect measuring methods. The satellite data reception should be organized as close to the end-user as possible; this can be achieved by organization of the specialized regional centers for satellite data acquisition and processing.

The complex subsatellite experiments are oriented to verification of information about ocean fenomena and oceanographic parameters of sea surface as obtained from satellite images in various frequency bands, acquired from different space platforms. Beyond that, another goal is the evaluation and validation of satellite data processing algorithms. The data obtained during the experiments are further utilized to elaborate specialized operational technologies to be used for short-term forecasting of hydrobiont environment conditions.

The program of subsatellite experiments also includes testing the experimental model of ship-borne automated system for satellite data colection and processing, operating on the base of satellite data acquisition station "MEMOSAT M", which has been developed with participation of experts from the Laboratory.
